Japan Property Cycle

Japan Property Cycle

The following chart may imply that a regular property value boom each with a 13-year duration, followed by a hiatus (correction) of 2-4 years. Extrapolating that logic and you could argue that 2005 was indeed the start of the next cycle. Indeed property prices started to increase in late 2004. Since the end of World War 2, land prices have surged three times:

1. The first was in the early 1960s during the high economic growth period,

2. The second was from 1972 to 1973 during the “Japanese-archipelago remodeling boom”,

3. The third was from 1986 to 1989 during the bubble period.
